The Delhi Police on Tuesday arrested three persons from Rohini area for allegedly murdering and setting ablaze one 18-year-old boy in Haryana’s Murthal area on October 11. Police said the prime accused, a minor, was the victim’s friend who committed the murder over a fight between them earlier.
“Shiva Kalra (18) was reported missing on October 11. His body was found by Haryana Police in Murthal area on October 11 itself but they could not identify it. Delhi Police, while investigating the case of kidnapping, arrested a minor and two associates from north Rohini on October 14. After questioning the three arrested, they contacted Haryana police who handed over Shiva’s body after his parents identified it,” a senior police officer said.
According to police, the minor who has been apprehended said that he had a fight with Shiva. He then went to Shiva’s home in the evening and invited him for dinner at a restaurant in Murthal on the pretext of making up with him. The minor, with two associates – Parth (18) and Varun Jindal (18) – and Shiva rode to Murthal on a two-wheeler at around 11:00 pm.
Police said they had their dinner after which the three accused took Shiva to a desolate field near an amusement park and throttled him to death. The prime accused pumped three bullets from a country-made pistol into Shiva, according to police. The three accused then rode to a nearby petrol pump and bought three litres of petrol and they went back and poured the liquid on Shiva’s body and set it ablaze to erase evidence, police said. A farmer spotted the charred body on early October 12 and informed Haryana police.
A case of murder and destruction of evidence has been registered against the three.
