Acting on a plea seeking the cancellation of candidature of AAP chief Arvind Kejriwal from the New Delhi constituency, the Delhi High Court has issued a notice to him.
The plea was filed by Kiran Walia, Kejriwal’s Congress rival in New Delhi. In the plea, she has alleged that he is a permanent resident of Uttar Pradesh and therefore not eligible to file nomination from Delhi.
According to the Representation of People’s Act (RPA), to fight state elections, a person has to be a resident of that particular state. Kejriwal stays in Kaushambi, which falls under Ghaziabad in Uttar Pradesh.
Delhi goes to polls on February 7.
