Former Prime Minister Manmohan Singh moved the Supreme Court on Wednesday, seeking to get summon against him quashed in a coal block allocation scam case.
Opinion: The Hindalco contradiction
Singh, who was also in charge of the coal ministry at the relevant time, has sought an immediate stay on the summing order, asking him to appear before the trial court on April 8.
The petition is likely to be mentioned for an urgent hearing before the court on Thursday.
Singh’s petition has claimed that the summoning order was not legal and against the principles of the criminal jurisprudence. Apart from challenging the order on technical grounds, he has said in his petition that there was no instance of alleged criminality that could be attributed to any of his acts as a coal minister.
