NEW DELHI: The Supreme Court on Friday extended former Tamil Nadu chief minister J Jayalalithaa’s bail till the disposal of her appeal against conviction in a disproportionate assets case by the Karnataka high court.
The high court judge hearing her appeal has informed the court that he would not be able to dispose of the appeal within the time frame set by the SC and that he needed time till end of April.

However, it was pointed out to the SC bench headed by CJI HL Dattu that the controversy relating to who should appoint the special public prosecutor – Tamil Nadu or Karnataka – was also pending in SC and it could take some time to decide that.
The SC gave high court time till May 12 to dispose of Jayalalithaa’s appeal and extended her bail till disposal of appeal by HC.
