NEW DELHI: Along with his wife and three-year-old daughter, Sankalp Anand drove from Delhi to Mathura in Uttar Pradesh and the family then jumped in front of a train. Santosh, 38, and his wife were killed. Their child Riddhima survived and is with her grandparents in Delhi after being treated for serious injuries.
The police have found an 11-page suicide note from the car that Santosh left near the train track. In it, Sankalp alleged deep corruption in the National Institute of Criminology and Forensic Sciences under the home ministry, where he worked as a lecturer.
He said he was blackmailed by a group of people and he was ending his life “due to the extreme pressure inflicted upon me by my own wrong-doings and the wrong-doings of others.” He names two IPS officers and said they were part of a construction scam and job racket in the institute.
Sankalp’s father, Santosh Anand, a famous Bollywood lyricist, is devastated; his only son was born after many prayers and difficult times.
He visited his parents the night before the suicide. “He never told us anything about going to Mathura,” Santosh Anand says. Sankalp and his family had stayed over last weekend.
“Sankalp was a very helpful person…such an act by him is very shocking,” Mr Anand said.
“We will live for our granddaughter,” he told NDTV.
