PANAJI: Goa minister Francisco Mickky Pacheco, who was convicted for slapping a government servant, on Friday resigned from cabinet.

Pacheco on Wednesday filed a review petition before the Supreme Court, pleading for “justice” in the 2006 case of assault on an electricity department junior engineer.

“I have pleaded with the SC that I should be given justice. I have never been given justice. This whole case is politically motivated,” Pacheco had said about his plea in top court.

The Nuvem MLA has alleged that the complainant lodged the complaint against him in the morning but went back to the police in the evening and “modified” the complaint at the behest of some politicians.

He, however, declined to name the politicians.
